FRR 10.5: Key New SRv6 uSID Enhancements for SONiC Deployments and Beyond

The FRR community has announced FRR 10.5 release. The release includes a set of important SRv6 uSID enhancements enabling for advanced SRv6 uSID deployments.

The Key highlights include:

• Support for multiple SRv6 uSID locators
• Support for SRv6 uSID F4816 locator format
• Support for Static SRv6 uSID GRT (Global Routing Table)
• Support for the coexistence of SRv6 uSID and MPLS within the same VRF
• Support for Explicit SRv6 SID allocation in BGP
• Ability to use different SRv6 uSID locators per VRF in BGP
• Improved stability of IS-IS SRv6 uSID testing
• Multiple bug fixes and code quality improvements

These SRv6 enhancements represent 20+ pull requests and over 100 commits, with contributions from Cisco, NVIDIA and 6WIND.

The features will be integrated in SONiC 202605 release as part of the FRR Upgrade for the release.
